What’s the Meaning Behind “Natural”?

Everyone has natural health products, or says they do.  I believe the word “natural” can be used very loosely. I want to challenge you to know, really know, what a natural health product is from one that merely contains natural ingredients. And you should care, even if ingredients baffle you and marketing confuses you.  The choices you make affect your health.

Let‘s take Sucralose (Splenda) and use it as an example.  What is the marketing ploy they use?  “Tastes like sugar… Made from sugar”.   You won’t have enough hours in the day to read all the health problems related to this “supposedly” natural sweetener.chemical_flasks

This is the chemical known as Splenda: 1,6-dichloro-1,6-dideoxy-beta-D-fructofuranosyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-alpha-D-galactopyranoside. Are you convinced that it’s a natural product?  I hope not.  There have been several world class lawsuits filed by others who are not convinced.

The point I’m making is that even if you don’t suffer from serious, health-damaging side effects like thousands of others do, your body knows the difference between a chemical and a natural product and it reacts accordingly.

It’s not too difficult to pay attention to ingredients in your products and have a pretty good idea what’s a natural health product, and what is not. By subscribing to the Health Hot List, you can be informed on a regular basis of the latest marketing ploy, food scam, or corner-cutting product, filled with cheap filler ingredients, that is masquerading as “natural”.

A few of the ingredients to be on the lookout for in products marketing as “natural health products”:

  • hydrogenated products- trans fats hidden in food and labeled as zero grams per serving
  • products using corn-  your body is already filled with corn and probably bioengineered at that
  • soy products – too much phytoestrogen floating around that helps cancer cells proliferate
  • artificial sweeteners – Equal (aspartame), Sucralose (Splenda), Sweet & Low, and high-fructose corn syrup
  • parabens – preservatives used in just about every skin care product, and recognized as a carcinogen
  • sugar – actually a processed product that I call “white death”.

These are only ingredients that may be listed on the food label.   Food has to be tested to uncover the pollutants and chemical residue it contains.

All of the concerns listed here are not new; have been around for a long time, and are well documented.  So all you have to do is be aware; pay attention, and make simple changes toward real, natural health products that contain natural ingredients; usually organically derived.

Switching to a more natural, less processed diet has serious rewards. You’ll notice better brain function, more energy, improved bodily functions, natural weight loss or leaner appearance, improved skin and anti-aging benefits.  You’ll lessen your chances of disease and illness. You will know the difference; your body will know the difference and the payoff is huge!

Now that you are paying attention to what is slipped in your food, you should realize that the natural goodness that was in our food 100 years ago is not there anymore and you must supplement your diet to maintain your health with the nutrients you need.

In a country filled with over-farmed lands that have been proven to be mineral and nutrient deficient, you will have to “out-source” to get proper nutrition. A congressional document from 1936 shows that there was a need for mineral-rich soils even then.  What do you think our soils are like now?

And, our cattle and chickens are fed corn, as well as toxic, farm-raised fish.  We might as well be an ear of corn!

So if you agree that supplementation is important for optimal health, make sure you choose natural health products; products that assist the body in nutritional cleansing to remove toxins and are formulated with one goal in mind: a “no compromise” approach to ingredients.  Choose natural health products that are formulated for safety, purity and potency.
